Welcome to
Marianne Brown Literacy
As educators, we all strive for literacy instruction that is both effective and equitable, ensuring that every student can succeed. The Science of Learning is clear: Structured Literacy, which focuses on diagnostic, explicit, cumulative, and systematic learning, is essential for all children.
About Me
Kia ora, my name is Marianne Brown, and I bring over 30 years of experience as a dedicated educator, with a special focus on Structured Literacy for the past 9 years. I am a MOE Accredited Literacy Facilitator, passionate about helping schools across New Zealand implement research-backed literacy programs that empower both teachers and students.
Based in Manawatu, I travel nationwide delivering Professional Learning and Development (PLD) sessions that transform the way literacy is taught. My background as a reading intervention specialist, literacy leader, and coach has allowed me to develop a deep understanding of the literacy challenges faced by schools, and how to overcome them with Structured Literacy.
I believe every child deserves to succeed in literacy, and I am committed to helping educators develop the skills and knowledge they need to make that a reality.

You were fab, knowledgeable, warm, and engaging and day flew by with variety in presentation and practical activities. Thanks Marianne, best and most practical course I’ve attended in some time. Thank you
I loved how you integrated the theory into the delivery, you had good knowledge and activities to take away for the classroom. The games were excellent, and the presentation was shared with all to reduce the need to write copious notes. It was great that there was time was allowed for questions at the end.
